Chapter 316 - 273: You Can’t Refuse to Meet Love Just Because You’re Afraid of Parting_2
She evidently forgot about Vivian once she got into the swing of things, otherwise she’d surely leave some... time for her sister.
She stubbornly held on for most of the night, and by the time she was spent, Vivian had long been unable to keep up.
After entering the room, Lynn saw Vivian sleeping so sweetly that he couldn’t bear to wake her up for mischief.
So he simply lay down beside Vivian for a peaceful nap; though not as joyful as more lively pursuits, it was warmly comforting.
"Are you... are you unfulfilled? Won’t it be hard for you?"
Vivian asked cautiously. Given her courage, she certainly wouldn’t dare to invite Lynn for morning exercise, but she was simultaneously concerned for his well-being.
"Though the Human Race is in heat three hundred sixty-five days a year, and ’the rooster’s crow marks the start of the day,’ just sleeping with Vivian in my arms already feels very pleasant, so you needn’t worry about these things."
With that, Lynn held Vivian tighter, but his hands remained well-behaved, not wandering, seemingly content to simply embrace her sweetly.
"Then... perhaps stay in bed a little longer; if I’m late, I worry the children and cats might go hungry... mm~~"
Vivian only got halfway through her sentence before Lynn softly silenced her mouth; she tried a little resistance but with minimal effect, letting Lynn lovingly kiss her.
After some time, the kiss ended.
Lynn flipped out of bed and licked his lips, whispering, "Thanks for the treat," before starting to get dressed.
Vivian’s pretty face had again turned red because of the kiss, yet she suppressed her embarrassment and prepared to get up too.
"Why don’t you sleep a little longer? This is the Light Empire. Are you really going to cook yourself? You’d scare the chefs on the Holy Mountain of Light out of their wits."
Lynn dressed quickly and reached to hold down Vivian about to rise, reminding her that they were guests in a foreign place, not at home where she needed to hustle around.
At home, light chores were done due to preferring not to hire outsiders, but within the domain of the Light Empire, they were prestigious guests, indeed, if Vivian went into the kitchen, she’d truly terrify the chefs of the Light Church Court.
Imagine, the Holy Empress is trying to take my job, and my pot is made of Divine Gold?
"Then... someone’s got to feed the cats. If it’s any other cat it’d be fine, but if it’s Googy, if dinner is late by a minute, it’ll kick the door open; late by ten minutes, and it’ll charge in and pounce on your face."
Vivian smiled as she spoke, as though already seeing Googy outside the door wandering, counting down to kicking open the door.
"You can’t let it get too full. Although it’s quite comforting to cuddle a chubby cat, being too fat affects its longevity."
Talking about the chunky orange cat Googy, Lynn couldn’t help but laugh. A tubby cat of this size he had previously only seen in videos; if not for encountering it upon his initial crossing, already many years into its plush, well-fed state, he wouldn’t believe a mere cat could puff up like a gas tank.
"Having raised Googy for so many years, I surely know getting too fat isn’t good for its health, but all it likes is eating... I just wish... wish for Googy always to be full, never one day... leaving hungry, as it’s already fourteen years old..."
They had been cheerful earlier; Lynn didn’t know what he said wrong, suddenly causing Vivian to grow sorrowful, speaking about the cat, eyes seemingly unwittingly welling with tears.
Seeing Vivian in this teary state, Lynn felt an immediate ache in his heart; he had inadvertently reduced Vivian to a little crying bundle.
Googy was already fourteen years old. Back when tasked to help Vivian find her cat for the first time, it was already a big cat, and now, counting through "Miracle" over eleven years, its age is reasonable.
Lynn had never owned a cat before, so his knowledge about them wasn’t thorough, but the average person knows, pets like cats and dogs generally only live for a decade or so. Orange cats likely aren’t exceptions.
A fourteen-year-old orange cat is surely an old cat, possibly within its final one or two years; no wonder mentioning its lifespan made Vivian involuntarily upset.
"It’s okay, seeing Googy lively as ever, at her current health, she certainly hasn’t aged, won’t be leaving us so soon."
Lynn gently held Vivian, letting her rest her head on his shoulder, passing his hand gently over her back, soothing her trembling body from sobbing, exerting full effort to comfort her mood.
"Don’t worry Lynn, actually as Googy’s age increases, I’ve long prepared myself mentally; seeing it happy every day brings me so much joy, even if someday... I grew up with Googy, as it ages, how can I still remain immature?"
Feeling Lynn’s heart-felt comfort, Vivian’s mood greatly improved. As she said, welcoming growth is simultaneously stepping closer to acceptance.
She certainly wasn’t the first in Miracle World’s history to own a cat, knowing well these pets accompany young owners growing up, yet cannot remain throughout one’s old age, because a mere portion of one’s life constitutes a pet’s entirety.
"Despite in recent years even the thought evoking sadness and occasionally secret tears, I’ve never regretted raising Googy, for one shouldn’t avoid encountering love for fear of separation. I truly love Googy, and Googy wholeheartedly loves me..."
Saying this, Vivian’s mostly calmed emotions seemed stirred again, prompting Lynn to hold her tightly once more.
"Don’t get excited! That... I have a saying from my hometown: ’One person reaches enlightenment, and chickens and dogs ascend to the heavens.’ Though Googy isn’t a chicken or dog, cats are alike."
"The meaning is simple, when someone becomes overwhelmingly formidable, the pets around him soar to new heights. Googy’s life span can’t match ours, yet can we not elevate it in extraordinary ways to suffice?"
Vivian seemed swayed by Lynn’s words, looking up at him with hopeful eyes.
Though previously discussing the disparity between her and Lynn’s lifespans, she hadn’t considered including Googy in the proposal of entering the Divine Kingdom after Lynn’s ascension to Divinity.
Back then, her father suggesting this same point assumed Lynn’s talent should him to strive for Divine Level within her estimated seventy to eighty years lifespan.
At that time, she felt hopeful, yet later anonymously researched history, realizing the arduousness of ascending to Divinity. Across ten thousand years in Miracle World’s recorded history, not a single mortal has accomplished this feat!
Since then, Lynn’s guidance boosted her level, shattering the 100-level barrier, and while she grew throughout, achieving potential to extend her life through level advancement, Googy...
It remains a mere common pet, devoid of any magical beast bloodline, unable to level up at all.
The alternate route, supposedly awaiting Lynn’s ascension within her hopeful remaining seventy to eighty years, yet Googy... even if assuming it lives past twenty, only six years remain...
Ten thousand years of Miracle World record holds no example of achieving this task, she dared not expect Lynn to accomplish it within six years, which might prove too fantastical.
But now, hearing Lynn’s confident voice, Vivian couldn’t help but believe in him.
"Really... there’s a way to ensure Googy remains with us for a long, long time?"
Vivian’s voice was soft, sweetly muffled, evoking heartwarming protectiveness in everyone.
