Chapter 596: Agreed Meeting Place
Chapter 596: Agreed Meeting Place
"Good. Remember to call me after you’ve set up the meeting."
With that, Lin Kuang gave his phone number to Chang Yu, who quickly saved it. Once that was done, he said with a smile, "Let’s go, Wan’er."
Hearing him, Mu Wan smiled and nodded. She had always thought Lin Kuang looked his most handsome when fighting, which was why she enjoyed watching him in battle so much.
Mu Wan came over to Lin Kuang’s side, took his arm, and they walked out together.
However, as they reached the doorway, Lin Kuang stopped in his tracks. He turned around, his gaze falling upon Chang Yu.
"By the way, don’t even think about having any ideas about my woman again. Otherwise, the consequences will be very, very dire," Lin Kuang said calmly.
Despite Lin Kuang’s placid gaze, a profound sense of fear inexplicably rose in Chang Yu’s heart. Yes, it was fear—intense, overwhelming fear. At that moment, Chang Yu had only one thought: to get away from Lin Kuang as quickly as possible. He felt as if he were suffocating.
"Yes, yes, I’ll never do it again," Chang Yu said, swallowing hard.
Hearing his reply, Lin Kuang gave a calm nod and then left with Mu Wan.
After they had gone, Chang Yu nearly collapsed, slumping backward. Fortunately, Lao Si, who was standing beside him, quickly caught him.
"Young Master Chang, what’s wrong? Your back is soaked!" Lao Si exclaimed, his voice filled with alarm.
Hearing this, Chang Yu froze. He felt his back and, sure enough, his shirt was soaked through with cold sweat.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Mu Wan spoke up. "Lin Kuang, can we stay here for one more day and leave the day after tomorrow? It’s getting a bit boring."
"I’m afraid we can’t leave the day after tomorrow. I need to wait for an opponent. According to Nameless, he should be arriving around then as well," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.
"An opponent? What kind of opponent?" Mu Wan asked curiously.
"The wielder of the Slash Path Sword. It’s a complicated story. I’ll explain it to you on the way."
Lin Kuang explained the history between Nameless and Slash Path as he drove. He had just finished the story by the time they were nearly home, and Mu Wan now understood everything.
"Alright then... just be careful," Mu Wan said, looking at him with worry in her eyes.
"Don’t worry. Trust me, I’ll be fine," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, his words laced with his unique brand of confidence.
Hearing this, Mu Wan smiled and nodded. She believed he would be safe.
After getting home, they both freshened up before heading to their room to rest. Lin Kuang immediately sat cross-legged on the bed and began his cultivation. He had a feeling that the wielder of the Slash Path Sword would appear soon. A battle was imminent, and he had to be prepared.
The night passed in a blur of cultivation.
By morning, Lin Kuang felt his strength had increased significantly, reaching the peak of the Du Gate. If he could just break through the barrier, he would open the Scenic Gate, and his power would surge once more.
I hope I can achieve a breakthrough before the wielder of the Slash Path Sword arrives. Lin Kuang thought.
He got up, freshened up, and went out into the manor’s garden to practice Tai Chi Chuan. Each time he practiced, Lin Kuang discovered new variations, and the Chaotic Tai Chi he was developing on his own grew more and more refined, much to his satisfaction.
Mu Wan called him in for breakfast. With Mu Chengzhen stationed in the army, he likely wouldn’t be returning anytime soon. After breakfast, Mu Junwen drove off to attend to his many daily affairs.
Once Mu Junwen had left, Mu Wan helped her mother, Zeng Yuxiang, clear the table, while Lin Kuang sat on the sofa watching a mindless TV show. Once the mother and daughter finished, they joined him on the sofa, and the three of them began to chat. Time always flies when you’re chatting. Just like that, it was already eleven o’clock, almost time for lunch.
A little while later, just before 11:30, Lin Kuang’s phone rang.
He pulled out his phone and saw an unfamiliar number. A slight smile touched his lips. It must be Chang Yu. He stood up, went outside the villa, and answered the call.
"Hello," Lin Kuang answered coolly.
"Mr. Lin, it’s me, Chang Yu," the voice on the other end said hurriedly.
"I know. Is your father out?" Lin Kuang asked with a knowing smile.
"Yes, he is! We’re at the Qinghu International Hotel, not far from West Lake. My dad and I are waiting for you here," Chang Yu said.
Lin Kuang smiled and nodded. "Good. Wait for me there. I’ll be there shortly."
"Okay, Mr. Lin. I’ll be waiting for you in the lobby," Chang Yu confirmed.
Lin Kuang grunted in affirmation and hung up. He went back inside, said a quick goodbye to Mu Wan and Zeng Yuxiang, and then drove straight to the Qinghu International Hotel.
The journey wasn’t long, but the traffic was heavy. It took him nearly fifty minutes to reach the hotel. He parked in a space near the entrance, got out of the car, and glanced up at the towering building before stepping inside.
As Lin Kuang walked through the main doors, Chang Yu and Lao Si hurried out to greet him.
"Mr. Lin, you’re finally here," Chang Yu said, his tone filled with respect.
"Oh? Was I late?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.
"Ah! No, no, not at all! Not late in the slightest," Chang Yu explained hastily, realizing his blunder.
"Liar," Lao Si muttered under his breath. "Just a minute ago, you were complaining about how long this guy was taking."
Hearing this, dark lines appeared on Chang Yu’s forehead. He shot a vicious glare at Lao Si, who quickly took two steps back, putting a safe distance between them.
"Ahem! Well, Mr. Lin, this way, please. My father is waiting for you upstairs," Chang Yu said quickly, his voice laced with embarrassment.
Lin Kuang just smiled and nodded. Chang Yu and Lao Si led the way, and the three of them stepped into an elevator, riding it all the way up to the sixteenth floor.
There were no bodyguards posted by the elevator, which Lin Kuang found a little surprising. But then he smiled, as if he understood something.
Chang Yu led Lin Kuang to room 1618 and knocked gently. "Dad, Mr. Lin is here," he announced, a note of caution in his voice.
The door opened to reveal a man in his forties. He stepped forward and introduced himself with considerable respect, "Mr. Lin, hello. My name is Chang Chun."
