Chapter 1291 - 651: Mo Han & Wanwan Arc – Xi Mohan Appears Early at the Ning Family
Ning Wan looked at Ning Yan’er like she was looking at a lunatic. She had the urge to laugh, but even more than that, she just felt helpless and pathetic.
First of all, she was clearly the one who’d decided to stay away from Xi Mohan, yet somehow they were all lining up to come to her, one after another. Back when she was the one chasing after that man, he didn’t even want to see her.
Second, she really couldn’t figure out where Ning Yan’er got her confidence from, to think that Xi Mohan would definitely end up being hers in the end.
Ning Wan had known Xi Mohan almost a year earlier than Ning Yan’er, and as for liking him, Ning Wan had naturally liked Xi Mohan much longer and much deeper than Ning Yan’er.
When it came to that man Xi Mohan, Ning Wan obviously felt she understood him far better than Ning Yan’er did. Who told her to be so stupidly in love with that man for so long, practically keeping everything about him close to her heart.
Xi Mohan was the kind of man who was extremely cold and unfeeling, but if he ever did fall for a woman, he’d be the deep, devoted type. Only, she was painfully clear that whether it was her, Ning Wan, or Ning Yan’er, neither of them would ever be that woman in Xi Mohan’s heart.
Seeing the smile on Ning Wan’s face, Ning Yan’er instantly flared up and snapped, "Ning Wan, what are you laughing at? You still don’t think you’ve embarrassed yourself enough? I’m warning you, you’d better stay away from Mo Han. If I find you shamelessly clinging to him like before again, don’t blame me for being rude."
After that dinner together, Ning Yan’er felt that her relationship with Xi Mohan had clearly taken another step forward. What’s more, after dinner Xi Mohan hadn’t taken her straight home, but had instead brought her to the An City Ring River.
It was a bit chilly by the river. After all, she was only wearing a sleeveless dress at the time, but Xi Mohan had been very considerate and taken off his trench coat for her, draping it over her shoulders.
That trench coat was still in her room right now.
Just after spending three or four hours together, Ning Yan’er had already decided that Xi Mohan definitely had feelings for her.
So when she’d seen Ning Wan and Xi Mohan tangled up downstairs just now, a sudden sense of crisis had surged up in her chest. The only thing she wanted to do now was to warn Ning Wan to stay away from Xi Mohan.
Because that man was hers.
Ning Wan only felt that Ning Yan’er was either way too confident, or just straight-up brainless.
Her lips curved slightly as she looked at Ning Yan’er and said bluntly, "Ning Yan’er, when you’re saying all this to me, what position are you standing in? Xi Mohan’s girlfriend?"
"You..." Ning Yan’er’s face went green and white by turns, and she couldn’t get a single word out for a long time. It wasn’t until the smile on Ning Wan’s face deepened that she finally ground out between her teeth, "I’m going to be his girlfriend in the future."
"Oh really?" Ning Wan let those two words slip from her throat, then said with a meaningful tone, "Then you’d better keep a close eye on your future boyfriend. Whether he’ll really be yours or not... that’s not exactly guaranteed."
With that said, she ignored Ning Yan’er, opened her door and walked in. On the way she locked it behind her.
Ning Yan’er’s expression turned even uglier. Seeing Ning Wan go straight into her room and shut the door, the more she thought about it the more wrong it felt. In the end she marched up to Ning Wan’s door and tried to open it, only to realize Ning Wan had locked it from the inside.
Her anger flared even higher. She felt sure Ning Wan had said all that on purpose and started pounding on the door. "Ning Wan, what did you mean by that? Open the door and come out, make yourself clear."
But there was no movement at all from inside.
After Ning Wan set her things on the desk, she grabbed a set of pajamas and went straight into the bathroom. Once the bathroom door was closed, there was no way she could hear Ning Yan’er yelling outside.
...
All day Friday, Ning Wan stayed in there drawing.
She’d always had this hobby—learning to draw. And she had a dream for the future too: to become a designer.
But she hadn’t started learning to draw as a child; she only began to slowly get into it a few years ago. Later, because all her thoughts were wrapped up in Xi Mohan, she gradually put that habit of drawing on hold. It was only when she came back last night that she decided to pick up this hobby again.
Because Lin Musen had said he’d take her to the amusement park the next day, Ning Wan felt that if she didn’t give him a little gift, she’d feel embarrassed. So she spent almost the entire day drawing a portrait of Lin Musen, and even did a super cute chibi version of him.
But since she didn’t have any photos, Ning Wan could only rely on her memory of Lin Musen’s face while drawing.
Early Saturday morning, just after Ning Wan got up, she received a call from Lin Musen saying he was already waiting for her outside the Ning Family residence.
She hurried through her wash-up at top speed, changed into a set of casual clothes, and headed out. Even though she was a girl and taking time to dress up was normal, she just wasn’t used to making other people wait too long for her.
What Ning Wan hadn’t expected was that the moment she walked into the first-floor living room, she saw someone sitting there with Grandpa Ning, playing chess with him—Xi Mohan.
Her footsteps stopped dead. She blinked, and couldn’t help cursing in her head.
Damn, she had to have opened the door wrong, or her eyes were playing tricks on her.
But after she closed her eyes and rubbed them, the man sitting across from her grandfather, calm and composed, was still there. That face that belonged to Xi Mohan was right in her line of sight.
"Second Miss." The servant saw Ning Wan standing on the stairs and greeted her politely, "Good morning, Second Miss. Breakfast is already being prepared, it’ll be ready in a moment."
Hearing the servant’s voice finally snapped Ning Wan back to her senses. Before she could even look away from Xi Mohan, the man had already lifted his head and glanced over at her.
Grandpa Ning also looked toward Ning Wan. When he saw her, the old man’s mood brightened; he smiled and said, "Wanwan, how come you’re up so early today?" He’d just been about to say more when his gaze fell on the backpack slung over Ning Wan’s shoulders, and he paused. "Dressed like this... you’re heading out?"
Ning Wan was dressed in casual clothes, holding a bag with things inside, and carrying a backpack on her shoulders. One look and you could tell she was about to go out.
Ning Wan finally tore her gaze away from Xi Mohan, pressed her lips together, then looked at Grandpa Ning and nodded with a soft "Mm." Walking down the stairs, she spoke to him, "Grandpa, I won’t be eating at home today. Someone’s waiting for me outside. I’m heading out first."
