Chapter 285 - 241: Parrot
"Feng, may I call you that?" Station Head Lawrence asked after letting go of his hand, looking at the tiger pack in the enclosure. "Snow told me you plan to adopt these little fatties."
"Yes, sir. I have a very large territory, more than enough to accommodate them." Feng Mountain thought for a moment and decided to be honest. "My territory is currently developing its tourism industry, and I think these little fatties could also become an attraction."
Station Head Lawrence nodded silently, appreciating Feng Mountain’s honesty.
After all, adopting over ten tigers at once was no small matter. In recent years, the international demand for tiger products had been on the rise, especially in Asia, where they could sell for an astronomical price.
Some people had also tried to take tigers from the rescue center through adoption.
Station Head Lawrence knew all too well what those people were up to.
They would adopt the tigers, then after a while, report them as having died from illness or an accident. Then, the tigers would vanish without a trace.
In contrast, Feng Mountain’s honesty was convincing. Although he was adopting the tigers for his tourism industry, it was, at the very least, a much better fate for them than being euthanized.
"Mr. Feng, I personally approve of this adoption process. However, I hope you understand that for a special adoption like this involving tigers, we will arrange for staff to conduct a home visit. Only after an on-site inspection confirms the living environment is suitable for the animals can we finalize the adoption approval."
"I understand. You are welcome to visit Crown Territory. I’m sure you will love it there." Feng Mountain nodded, understanding the rescue center’s strict procedures. After all, these weren’t kittens or puppies, but over ten large tigers.
"That’s wonderful. Mr. Snow, I’ll leave this matter in your hands," Station Head Lawrence said with a relaxed smile.
The man with glasses beside them, Snow, suddenly remembered something and quickly said, "Mr. Feng, there’s also an interactive session for animal adoptions. We need to arrange a meet-and-greet for the adopter and the prospective animal to familiarize themselves with each other. This process helps the adopter better understand the animal’s personality and habits, and also allows the animal to get used to the adopter’s presence."
"I can introduce you to these tigers. They’re very friendly with people."
However, Station Head Lawrence frowned and shook his head slightly. "Snow, I think we should postpone this session for a bit. The little fatties aren’t familiar with Mr. Feng’s scent yet."
"It’s alright. I think they’ll be easy to get along with." Feng Mountain, on the other hand, looked confident, his eyes full of anticipation as he watched the tigers.
’I’m a Witch, how could I possibly be afraid of these tigers? If push comes to shove, I’ll just hit each one with a Beast Taming Technique.’
Led by the man with glasses, Snow, Feng Mountain entered the enclosure once more.
The two first approached a tiger with a big, square face. Its body looked rather like an extra-large hot dog.
With practiced ease, Snow slowly squatted down. His movements were gentle and natural as he reached out, placed his hand on the tiger’s head, and began to scratch it softly.
It was as if a comfort switch had been flipped inside the tiger. A series of contented purrs rumbled from its throat.
"Mr. Feng, his name is Tyson. He’s especially timid," Snow explained patiently. "In a moment, you can put your hand in front of his nose. Once he’s familiar with your scent, you can pet him."
"Okay." Feng Mountain nodded, and after slowly squatting down, he cautiously extended his hand...
The square-faced tiger was now staring warily at Feng Mountain. Its plump body was curled up slightly, like a big, fluffy ball. Its previously languid demeanor was gone, replaced by an inexplicable fear of the stranger.
"Tyson, don’t be scared. Mr. Feng isn’t dangerous," Snow, squatting beside him, quickly soothed in a low voice. He continued to scratch the tiger’s head gently, trying to get it to relax.
’Is he really this timid?’ Feng Mountain wondered to himself.
He slowly stood up, turned his back to North, and quickly formed a series of hand signs. In the instant he turned, he pointed a finger at the square-faced tiger and softly chanted an ancient Spell.
"Beast Slave!"
A flash of red light shot from the Witchcraft Bone Ring toward the square-faced tiger.
The entire process was as fast as lightning, over in an instant. Snow, who was standing to the side, didn’t notice a thing.
However, in the next moment, Snow was astonished to see the fat tiger, Tyson, who had been lying beside him, slowly get up. Shaking its plump body, it walked with a slightly clumsy yet somehow cute gait straight over to Feng Mountain.
Then, it gently rubbed its large head against Feng Mountain’s body, as if affectionately greeting a long-lost friend. Its previous wariness and fear were completely gone, replaced by a sense of closeness and reliance on Feng Mountain.
Snow’s eyes went wide, his face a mask of disbelief. He couldn’t understand how Tyson had suddenly become so affectionate toward Feng Mountain.
Looking at the now incredibly affectionate tiger before him, the corners of Feng Mountain’s mouth curved up slightly in a gentle smile.
He slowly reached out, placed his hand on the tiger’s head, and casually began to scratch.
His fingers ran through the thick tiger fur.
Hmm, so tiger fur was coarse, not soft and smooth like the fur of smaller animals. Each strand had a tough texture, and it even felt a bit prickly to the touch.
"Feng, Tyson is rarely this friendly with people." North pouted, a hint of jealousy in his voice.
He couldn’t help but grumble to himself. ’After all, I’m the one who takes care of these tigers every day—feeding them, playing with them, and building a pretty good relationship with them.’
’Tyson has only just met Feng Mountain, yet his attitude is more affectionate than I’ve ever seen.’
