Chapter 397 - 390: I’ll Tear Her Apart

When Sarah Shelby, River Sterling, and their companions arrived at The Tuberose, they heard Clara Grant scream from inside just as they reached the door to the private room. Sarah’s heart leaped in alarm. Crying out Clara’s name, she shoved the door open and burst in.

River Sterling, Linden Jennings, and Chase Childs followed close behind. When they saw that Clara Grant was unharmed and just drunk, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

Sarah Shelby, however, felt a wave of helplessness as she looked at her drunken friend.

When Seth Quinn had called to tell her he’d found Clara at The Tuberose, she had guessed that Clara must have run off to drink.

She was worried sick about Clara’s low tolerance for alcohol—she got tipsy after just one drink. Afraid that Seth Quinn might not get there in time, she had floored the accelerator, practically flying over.

Just as she arrived at the entrance to The Tuberose, River Sterling, Linden Jennings, and Chase Childs also arrived one after another. Though River Sterling and Linden Jennings weren’t celebrities, they often appeared in the entertainment news representing Aegis, so Sarah Shelby recognized them.

After a round of introductions, the group went upstairs together.

Clara Grant, however, was not interrupted by their arrival. She opened her hazy eyes, glared at Seth Quinn for a moment, then pouted unhappily and continued muttering to herself.

"Seth Quinn? You’re lying. How could he possibly be here? He’s probably off being sweet with some other woman right now... No, not probably. Definitely! He despises my status, he looks down on my humble origins, he thinks my past is dirty...

"Heh, heheh. And that woman is so pure and virtuous, isn’t she? So high and mighty. She even got depression because he broke her heart..."

As she spoke, she swayed and was about to collapse onto the table, but Seth Quinn caught her. He grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her a few times, as if trying to sober her up.

"Clara, look at me. It’s really me, Seth Quinn. I’m here."

’What was she talking about? When had he ever looked down on her? When had he ever been sweet with some other woman?’

’He had only held back from chasing her to give her some space to cool down, and she’d already started letting her imagination run wild? If he had known, he would have rather chased after her and had a fight than let her run off to cool down on her own.’

Held by the shoulders, Clara Grant was forced to face Seth Quinn. Her eyes swept over his face as if she finally recognized him. She started pounding on his chest. "Seth Quinn? What are you doing here? I already broke up with you! Leave me alone! Go away, go away, go away!"

A flicker of annoyance showed in Seth Quinn’s eyes at her constant talk of breaking up, but he still coaxed her as if she were a child. "Clara, be good. Let’s go home first. We can talk about whether or not we’re breaking up once we’re home, okay?"

"No!" Clara Grant’s reply was sharp and final. She pushed Seth Quinn with all her might. "Go away! I want to drink."

This back-and-forth left the other four onlookers completely stunned. ’Break up? Everything was fine. Why would Clara want to break up with Seth Quinn?’

’Were they really breaking up over a small fight or a minor disagreement? Was this just the alcohol talking, or was she actually being unreasonable?’

Sarah Shelby knew Clara Grant well. She was certain there had to be a serious reason for Clara to bring up a breakup.

’A moment ago, she’d mentioned Seth being sweet with another woman. She couldn’t have been talking about Autumn Shelby, could she? Had Autumn tried to sabotage her relationship with Seth again?’

Unable to hold back, she took a few steps forward and asked Seth Quinn, "President Quinn, what exactly happened between you and Clara? Why did she suddenly run off to drink? And why is she talking about breaking up with you?"

"Yeah," River Sterling couldn’t help but chime in. "Did you take her home to meet your parents? Did they not approve of her?"

Sarah Shelby hadn’t known that Seth Quinn had taken Clara to the Quinn family home. She frowned at him. ’Could it really be that his parents disapproved?’

Seth Quinn shook his head. He explained what had happened when Autumn Shelby came to his family’s home, but he omitted the part where Chloe Grant had exposed Clara Grant’s true background.

That was her private information. Without her permission, he had no right to tell anyone else.

As Sarah Shelby listened, her brow furrowed deeper and her eyes grew colder. She didn’t even wait for Seth Quinn to finish speaking before she turned and ran out of the room.

’Autumn Shelby. She actually dared to try and steal Clara’s man. I’m going to tear her to shreds!’
